Cheltenham 2019 ante-post selections:

December 30th: 1pt ante-post win Clan Des Obeaux to win the Gold Cup at 10/1 (various bookmakers)

  • Update: Clan Des Obeaux’s planned prep race at Newbury was cancelled due to all UK racing shutting down for a week due to an outbreak of equine influenza; however, the Denman Chase was rearranged the following weekend at Ascot and he took his chance. Gold Cup champion Native River pulled out of the race because of its proximity to Cheltenham and Ascot being right-handed, making Clan Des Obeaux’s task much easier, and he duly proved his King George performance was no fluke by travelling all over Terrefort, jumping brilliantly and scooting clear after the last to record a wide-margin win. It was the perfect prep run and bookmakers initially slashed his Gold Cup odds to 7/1, but within 24 hours that was long gone and he currently trades a best price of 5/1, with BetVictor as short as 7/2. This bet is in extremely good shape.

February 20th: 1pt ante-post win Fast Buck to win the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle at 40/1 non-runner no bet with Bet365

  • Update: entered Sunday, 24 February 2019 for the 1:30 2m Maiden Hurdle at Naas
