6th-12th July Performance: +9.25Pts

A strong week, finishing 9.25pts in profit. £10 on each of our tips would have made a profit of £92.50.

We thought Amazing Maria‘s 12/1 price was extremely generous for the Falmouth Stakes, considering she’d soundly beaten Group One winners Rizeena and Integral last time out and the race was run over near-identical conditions – good to firm ground and a straight mile. She confirmed this by winning well on the day. Lucida, keen in the early stages, ran no sort of race with another questionable ride from her jockey and we’re running out of excuses.

Arod backed up our confidence with another excellent front-running performance at Ascot and, back at Newmarket, Related again ran into the places with another impressive performance.

We put 40/1 ew shout Burnt Sugar down as a lose, but his 5th place finish paid out for some with with SkyBet. He certainly outran his odds and we hope he stays under the radar before next time out.

Sole Power came up short in the July Cup, running a blinder to finish in the places behind the excellent Muhaarar. The winner put Aussie raider Brazen Beau in his place and confirmed his 0.5 seconds faster Royal Ascot time was significant.

Mullionheir was seemingly beaten by the 8lb rise and Niceofyoutotellme refused to settle when stepping up in trip. The latter did at least confirm he was evenly matched with the SP favourite Mahsoob – and therefore overpriced at 16/1 – with the two in a dead heat for 6th.

Our focus now turns to Irish Oaks weekend at the Curragh, with top class racing thin on the ground in the UK.
