0.5pts ew Marsh Hawk @40/1, Doncaster 14:30

Richard Hannon’s Marsh Hawk looks good value to outrun her odds in the Group-Three Japan Racing Association Sceptre Stakes, so is worth a small wager at 40/1 – with bigger prices available on Betfair.

She’s not fulfilled the promise of her two-year-old campaign, where she won a couple of nice races, including routing today’s favourite, Fadhayyil, by seven lengths in an impressive maiden and finishing fourth ahead of the smart Lucida in Together Forever’s Group One Dubai Fillies’ Mile.

This season she flopped on her reappearance at York, but the fast ground wasn’t to her liking and she was given a four-month break before a much-improved performance in a recent York handicap. She travelled really well, showing no signs of greenness and was bang in the mix for all but the final furlong, but didn’t look to stay the trip. She has three lengths to find with the re-opposing winner, Mistrusting (11/2), but did give her 1lb and, if she’s come on for the run like we expect, she can be bang in the mix at a huge price.
