0.75pts each-way Cotubanama @9/1, 14:00 Epsom, Friday

The Woodcote normally produces a couples of decent two-year-olds, and Marie’s Diamond is a worthy favourite for the in form Middleham Park Racing syndicate.

He showed great promise to land a decent maiden on his debut before finishing a reasonable third in a conditions race over 6f at Newbury a fortnight ago.

At 3/1 he is plenty short enough for this, and at the prices, it could just be worth chancing a bet on COTUBANAMA for Mick Channon who has excellent record in this race, winning it three times.

Cotubanama showed huge improvement from her maiden to land a five furlong conditions race at Salisbury on heavy going where she showed a great turn-of-foot. The form of that race has worked out ok including a collateral form-line with Marie’s Diamond through a horse called Barbill.

Cotubanama seemed to be crying out for the six furlong trip on that occasion and that view was reinforced when I thought she put in a very solid performance in a 5f Listed Fillies race last time out at York to finish a close up 6/14.

The likes of True Belief and Mendoza have to be feared for strong connections here, but the step up to six furlongs and a return to a softer surface are massively in Cotubanama’s favour.

She also receives a 5lb allowance and has relatively more race experience on her side. With the added bonus of Andrea Atzeni on board and at odds of 9/1, she’s the bet in the Woodcote.
