The bet365 Cambridgeshire is a difficult puzzle to solve with 35 runners lining-up. There aren’t a huge amount of significant trends in this race, but it’s generally advantageous to have a horse that stays a 1m 2f and with no obvious draw bias on the straight track, it seems wise to follow the pace drawn middle to high.

There were plenty of runners on the shortlist, but it’s difficult to get away from Denis Menuisier’s progressive three-year-old in DANCETERIA who has been in exceptional form this campaign. His last run was big, under top weight, in a Premier Handicap at the Curragh coming from 20 lengths behind to finish a close staying on fifth.

That finally put the brakes on Danceteria’s winning sequence having chalked-up four in a row this year going up 27lbs in the ratings. But I am not convinced we have reached the bottom of him yet based on how comfortable his previous victories have been.

He comes from a modest yard, that went close in this with Thundering Blue last season, and his trainer has remarked that he could be even better.

All of Danceteria’s wins this year have been over 10f, but he seems versatile regarding trip (and ground) and there is every reason to believe that this race should suit him nicely.

10/1 is not the juiciest of prices and admittedly he is not the most imganitive of selections, but he could still be on a very handy mark and with the confidence behind him from connections, he is hard to ignore.

Another that is open to plenty of improvement and the the pick of John Gosden’s trio for me is the progeny of Breeders Cup winner Ravens Pass, STYLEHUNTER who has only had the five turf starts.

He demonstrated a liking for big-field handicaps when running sixth in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot on his penultimate start. That form looks pretty solid with nine winning runners coming out of it this year.

He put in an impressive reappearance run off a 65 day break on his last start, readily winning by four lengths in an average affair, but you can only beat what is put in front of you and his form earlier in the year also boasts a 1m 2f success in a Novice Stakes at Lingfield where he spread-eagled the field.

Robert Havlin takes the rides again as he did on that occasion and it’s encouraging that he has around a 30% strike rate for the master trainer during 2018.

Stylehunter also carries a nice weight of 8st 12lbs and at 14/1 is one of the better value horses towards the top of the market from a handicapping perspective.
