Venetia Williams has been in ruthless form over the winter and she has another promising sort in the shape of Espoir De Guye. He was put up a stone for his success here last month in a handicap chase and looks smart. But he is in much deeper water here off this mark and is worth taking on.
Happy Diva has been running consistently this season and is likely to give a good account. Sam’s Adventure could also reverse the form with Domaine De L’Isle when battling out a finish at Newcastle latest.
But at the prices, BENNYS KING could be nice each-way value at a big price of 12/1. He is 3/4 at this sort of distance for Dan Skelton and was well-fancied in the Grade 3 Rowland Meyrick Chase at Wetherby. He never really settled in the first mile, but then put in a strong challenge towards the latter stages before not quite getting home up the run-in over the three miles
The drop in grade and the trip, to a stiff 2m 5f should see him in a better light and he’ll have no problem with the heavy ground.
