3m Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle (Qualifier) (4yo+)
The top two in the market look well overbet now with the tips from pricewise yesterday evening. But I’m going to side with a proven performer in this company with A GREAT VIEW. He put in an eyecatching performance in a similar test last time out in a Grade B event won by Commander Of Fleet (who races in the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle).
It wasn’t an ideal trip for a A Great View who had to ravel wide throughout. But he came home best and looked to be shaping somewhere near to his best form. He is only up 2lbs for that which is still 17lbs lower than his highest mark carried in last year’s Pertemps final and 10lb below his mark when finishing sixth to Delta Work.
A Great View still looks well-in and can go well at a track he likes.
I’ll also take a bit of a punt on AUTHORIZED ART for the in-form Willie Mullins yard. This lightly-race six-year-old has got a class looking pedigree and has shaped with promise on both his hurdles starts having comeback from a nearly a two year break.
He has never tried beyond two miles before, but has looked tapped-for-toe on both his outings rather than a non-stayer. For the same owners Wicklow Brave demonstrated hus versatility later in his career for a trip and we could experience the same with Authorized Art.
At 16/1, there feels like there is enough compensation in his odds for this extra mile and with a bit of class in there. He could improve significantly for it.
