1pt each-way Mooniesta @11/1, 14:55 Curragh, Sunday

This is a good looking renewal of the Group 1 Flying Five at The Curragh. Winter Power is a warm order favourite following her Nunthorpe win and would have been for this even without the boost given to that form from Emaraaty Ana’s win in the Group 1 Sprint Stakes.

Dragon Symbol wasn’t far behind Winter Power in the Nunthorpe, and has gone close in several of the top sprint races this season. His price reflects that, but he is still lightly-raced so it would be no surprise to see him go in here on a potentially favourable track.

But I’m taking one for the Irish in this renewal and I think that MOONIESTA‘s three-year-old improvement shouldn’t be underestimated.

Mooniesta ran sixth in the Commonwealth Cup when not handling the heavy going. But she then backed that up with a fantastic display over course and distance in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes. She looks overpriced at 11/1 and also gets the 3lb filly allowance like Winter Power.

I’ll take the each-way with several bookies offering four-places in this as she has got to take on proven Group 1 sprinters.
