3m2f Randox Health Becher Handicap Chase (Grade 3) (Class 1)

Not many horses have managed to win the Becher Chase and the Grand National in one season, although these lot will be hoping to do the mighty double.

I can see the logic in Mulcahy’s Hill being favourite for this as he is very unexposed. But he remains an inexperienced chaser and will be tackling these fences for the first time which could be a challenge.

Instead, I’m with last year’s winner WALK IN THE MILL who should get similar conditions this time around and warmed up with a prep run when pulled-up at Wincanton three weeks’ ago. He was a gutsy winner fo this last year and also put in a fine run to come fourth in the main event in April.

Walk In The Mill is just 4lbs higher than his mark in this last year and looks a cracking each-way bet.

DEFINITLY RED went off favourite for the Grand National in 2017. He was racing nicely before getting badly hampered which caused him to be pulled-up in the race. This represents his first start in a handicap for a couple of years having contested the likes of the Gold Cup during 2019.

His comeback run could have been slightly more encouraging when finishing behind Ballyoptic who has gets an 8lbs swing with. But Definitly Red has started his last two seasons with runs at Wetherby prior to claiming successes at this meet so this is normally the time to catch him.

Definitly Red is targeting a third success at Aintree and although he carries 11st 10lbs, he has the class to do so, and is 10lbs lower than his career high mark of 167.
