I like Al Aasy but he’s a wobbly favourite here, as he’s unproven at Group One level and has had his career blips on fast ground. Also wobbly are Japan and his full brother Mogul, both semi cliff horses for these pages down the years but both winning tips at times too. It’s pure guesswork who will come out on top as they are difficult to predict, so I’m going to ignore the both of them and hope they have a family off-day. Pyledriver didn’t handle Epsom very well in last year’s Derby and that’s enough to be against him, and I’m left with the improving filly ALBAFLORA as the bet at 11/1. She might want the ground a bit softer but arrives in arguably the form of her life after bolting up at Ascot, and with Dettori on board, the 3lb mares’ allowance and a double-digit price she’s worth a chance.
