2m4f BARONERACING.COM Drinmore Novice Chase (Grade 1) (4yo+)

An incredibly high-class novice chase, where it’s hard to rule out any with confidence. Lifetime Ambition looks a different prospect over fences than hurdles having put in an exhibition round of jumping when getting the better of Beacon Edge on his second start over fences. Lifetime Ambition looks a worthy favourite, but he is yet to face ground this quick in his chasing career and that might catch-out the 11/4 favourite.

Gabynako also looked a natural over fences, but both have been well-found in the market and I am more interested in the likes of Grand Paradis who could be anything over fences having fallen behind Lifetime Ambition last time out and Irish Cesarewitch winner, CAPE GENTLEMAN.

Cape Gentleman has made an impressive start to life over the larger obstacles, first demolishing Buddy Rich over 2m 1f before putting subsequent Troytown winner Run Wild Fred to the sword over 2m 4f by 14l.

He was a slightly disappointing second when dropped back in trip two weeks ago behind classy mare Riviere D’Etele when giving her 18lbs. That might in time prove to have been an impossible task facing that opponent with that much of an allowance, but he should be extremely happy back here with the step up in trip on his favoured ground.
