6f Albany Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies) (Class 1) (2yo)
Another fiercely competitive 2yo race and another with a strong favourite in Mawj, who did everything right when scooting up at Newmarket and impressing on the clock. I’ll take him on with CATHY COME HOME for the in-form Burke yard at a big price of 16/1, as she didn’t come off the bridle in her maiden and clocked a sub 11″ furlong with the minimum of fuss. She looks speedy and there’s stamina in her pedigree so the extra furlong here is no issue. Burke’s comments regarding her homework are positive and the only negative is high draws haven’t been friendly this week, but over the years it’s paid to not overthink that. Queen Olly was the other one on the shortlist but I don’t want two against this favourite as she looks very good.
