1pt win Chamade @6/1, 16:15 York, Friday

It’s hard to rule any out in this quality looking fillies handicap for the three-year-olds at York. Asiaaf is current favourite and has been well-found in the market after a strong looking second at Glorious Goodwood in a Class 3 handicap previously.

Virgin Snow is entitled to improve in the first time hood having failed to get home over 1m 4f last time. But there’s every chance this will come down to another battle between Waliyka and CHAMADE. Chamade put in a commanding performance to dominate the latter at the Goodwood Festival last month getting first run on her rival.

She may have had a slightly uncontested lead when claiming success but she has the strongest form on paper in this. Chamade opened this campaign with a decent run behind Pyledriver and some other colts before picking up some black-type behind the likes of Franconia who ran last behind Love in Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks yesterday, Cabaletta a recent Listed winner, whilst finishing ahead of Wonderful Tonight, who picked up a competitive Group 3 in Deauville last week.

The drop in class really seemed to suit Chamade at Goodwood and she deserves her place in higher graded races in the future. If she’s allowed to dictate this small-field handicap then she should be able to defy the 8lbs rise and more specifically the 5lbs swing with Waliyka, who might be her biggest threat.
