Goodwood Tuesday tips: Dornoch Castle (17/2), Sandrine (12/1)

7f  Japan Racing Association Vintage Stakes (Group 2) (IRE Incentive Race)  (Class 1) (2yo)

Holloway Boy winning at Royal Ascot on his first ever run can be read both ways, and I’m taking the glass half empty view at his short price. Goodwood is a tricky, sharper track than Ascot and stamina will be less of a factor here, so I’m backing DORNOCH CASTLE to try and make all. He’s two from two and has done it all easily to date at lower grades, but he’s entered in a Group One later this season so connections must like him. He’s 17/2 and that’s a nice price to get stuck into.

1pt win Dornoch Castle @17/2, 14:25 Goodwood, Tuesday

7f  World Pool Lennox Stakes (Group 2)  (Class 1) (3yo+)

It’s a tough race with a good favourite in Sacred but SANDRINE is no back number on her first try at 7f. She’s finished upsides Inspiral last time out and upsides Cachet in both the Guineas and Coronation Stakes, where she beat Falmouth winner Prosperous Voyage. All were over a mile despite her best form being over 6f as a 2yo and there’s every reason to believe this could be her trip. If the 3yo fillies form works out she will be competitive here and I fancy my chances at 12/1.

1pt win Sandrine @12/1, 15:00 Goodwood, Tuesday
