1pt win Love @4/1, 15:35 Newmarket, Sunday

Where were we? Sunday’s rescheduled 1,000 Guineas has 15 runners so the draw is relevant. Raffle Prize looks the likely pace angle to the race, but I don’t think she’ll stay, for all she has smart form.

I’m not sure the favourite Milisle’s stamina doubts are factored into her price as she’s never raced over 6f and has it to prove. She also comes from off the pace, which isn’t ideal at Newmarket.

I can’t see an angle in from those at double digit odds, although 66/1 Yes Always is totally unexposed and is drawn close to the pace. Quadrilateral is a fair price at 100/30 on juvenile form. She should be progressive and looks a huge chance to follow up her Fillies’ Mile success from the autumn. She should have been second that day as Powerful Breeze idled badly, but she did show she stays and battles.

I’m backing LOVE for the Aidan O’Brien team as I suspect this will go to the best trainer at getting one ready for a Guineas first time out. He seems to do it every year and this looks like a race to be decided on fine margins. Love had Group One winning form as a juvenile and has no stamina doubts whatsoever, so she has the right profile. She’s a point bigger than Quadrilateral and has been well supported in recent weeks, which suggests she’s been working well. It seems significant that she’s the yard’s sole representative in a race they target with their very best horses.
