This looks a trappy race. The Goodwood factor alone gives them all a chance so I wouldn’t be in a hurry to back English King at skinny odds, for all he is the right favourite. I backed MOGUL in the Derby and was obviously disappointed by the way it played out, but it looked like he was last off the bridle and didn’t quite get home as English King just got past him in the final strides. It wasn’t a bad run and he can improve again now he’s fully fit, so the price disparity with English King looks like an over-reaction. I like Al Aasy a lot and will no doubt have a saver on him, but he has picked up a penalty for beating inferior horses last time out so it’s a tall order to concede weight to the Derby horses. He looks more of a stayer but I can’t see much pace in this race so the stayers might be inconvenienced, and my hunch is Mogul would have their numbers if this was over a shorter trip so we’ll give him one last chance.
