We’re backing an old favourite today in ROBIN OF NAVAN, whose gets his optimum trip of nine furlongs and is proven at Newmarket.
Good to soft ground should be no issue – though the nice weather may see that dry out to good by post time – and he has the crucial benefit of race fitness after competing on the all weather at Chantilly 43 days ago.
The form of that race has since been franked so he looks to have a nice chance.
Deauville is the favourite and chief threat but I am always very wary of backing Aidan O’Brien’s Group One horses first time out in lesser grades like this.
Deauville has solid Group One form so is entitled to win this if he’s close to his best, but I’m happy to chance he isn’t.
