1m2f Irish Champion Stakes (Group 1) (3yo+)
This looks a simple case of two top notchers at the wrong prices.
TARNAWA is brilliant and has the better form, winning the Breeders’ Cup Turf and two Group Ones at Longchamp last year. She is a big player for the Arc and looked better than ever on her reappearance so it’s hard to find any weaknesses. Odds-on St Mark’s Basilica is very good but it’s dangerous to read his defeat of Mishriff too literally as he received loads of weight and I don’t think Mishriff was fully tuned. Tarnawa gives the three-year-old 3lb and perhaps races at a trip that might be on the sharp side for her, but 11/4 is a good price on balance.
