1pt win Trefoil @13/2, 15:00 Newmarket, Sunday

The Pretty Polly Stakes serves up a cracking appetiser to the 1000 Guineas later on the card. An Oaks trial in its own right, it’s difficult to know at this stage whether this crop will be good enough to compete at Epsom in July.

One man who knows a thing or two about training an Oaks winner is Ralph Beckett, who won this race with Talent in 2013, and trains TREFOIL.

A daughter of Teofilo, Trefoil put in a taking debut performance on her sole start over The Rowley mile here at Newmarket beating the current Derby second favourite English King by four lengths. She was out well and seemed to really enjoy the track on her sole start last October.

Although it was soft ground on that occasion, she should handle the better going with her pedigree and it looked like she won with plenty up her sleeve with the jockey struggling to pull her up after going a mile.

The step up to 1m 2f should really suit and she’s interesting at a nice price of 13/2.
