7f (Row) Darley Dewhurst Stakes (Group 1) (Class 1) (2yo)
A really competitive renewal with plenty of betting angles. I really like Chindit but he’s opposable on this ground at the kind of undulating track he’s unproven on. The ground is a big concern for the pacey Thunder Moon and there are a couple of big priced alternatives who might be able to capitalise. WEMBLEY is a huge price at 11/1 as the Ballydoyle number one. It’s telling that St Mark’s Basilica was selected for Longchamp last weekend and they intended on splitting them up, which says that Wembley is very highly thought of as the yard’s Dewhurst horse. He looked really good last time out when flashing from last to second behind Thunder Moon and could be anything. At 16/1 I have to back ETONIAN too as he’s done nothing wrong so far and received a form boost on Friday. Richard Hannon clearly likes him a lot and his sire Olympic Glory loved soft ground. He’s too big a price.
