I fancied the well-bred West Approach last time out at Cheltenham, where he travelled eye-catchingly well before fading up the hill; now dropped in trip and hopefully better for the run, I’m keen to give him another go.
He’s under the same ownership and out of the same dam as current World Hurdle favourite Thistlecrack, and by the same sire as the reigning champ Cole Harden, so he’s bred to stay further and will need all his stamina in the forecast heavy conditions.
He won a bumper on heavy ground last season so acts on it well and looks a good bet at 10/1 regardless of the opposition, particularly as he receives 6lbs from the favourite Captain Chaos.
