1m4f John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes (Group 3) (Class 1) (3yo)

The Derby form is put on the line here with several coming into this to contest the Gordon Stakes. Hoo Ya Mal would be the obvious place to start having finished second in the Classic. He is fancied to run well here noting that this will just be his second attempt at 1m 4f, however he is a little short in the market having started at 150/1 in the Epsom Classic.

There is a slight suspicion that the Derby was run well for those off the pace and Hoo Ya Mal may have been slightly flattered by that effort. New London has bags of potential and could be the one to follow long-term here, however he still needs to prove he’s as good as the hype around him and his price looks too short for what he has achieved so far. Deauville Legend can still progress, but he’s up against it with a penalty here.

WEST WIND BLOWS is the one that ticks the boxes here provided he doesn’t go off too hard in front. He ran very well for a long way in the Derby before tiring over the last furlong or so to finish 9th.

His inexperience was probably on show there but he bounced back well to put up an impressive performance to win at Hamilton in a Listed race next time out by 7 lengths. Hamilton is a similar downhill track to Goodwood and he looks like the type that should be able to go well here over this trip on this course.

West Wind Blows is a relentless galloper, who likes to sit prominently and with his only defeat coming in the Derby, there is plenty to like about his chances here.
