For the simple fact that I believe ALTIOR is the best horse in training, and the best since Sprinter Sacre, I don’t really care that his sole realistic rival in Saturday’s Game Spirit Chase, Politologue, has beaten all before him this season including Fox Norton when landing the Grade 1 Tingle Creek at Sandown.
Altior is by far the superior horse and I suspect he’ll be able to account for him with ease on his seasonal reappearance, making the 8/13 quotes rather generous.
If he had already run and won this season he would be far shorter in the betting, and the fact he’s running and not opting for a racecourse gallop suggests he’ll be in fine form ahead of his tilt at next month’s Champion Chase – which at this point in time I’m fairly certain he’ll win.
I fancy he’d stay far more than two miles so I can’t really see any reason why he’d be lacking in the fitness department given he’s been sidelined this season by a breathing operation rather than a muscular issue.
I’d be amazed if he lost.
