Honeysuckle faces a far sterner test than twelve months ago in the Irish Champion Hurdle and I’m keen to taker her on over a trip she doesn’t look to like. The type to take her on with is a bona fide 2m hurdler and SALDIER fits that bill as his jumping was the slickest of all on his reappearance at Christmas. He was eased down when blowing up in the final stages and was said to need the run beforehand, so I think the market has his price totally wrong at 10/1 ante-post for a race we know he’s turning up in. Saldier’s form is Champion Hurdle winning class in what’s a pretty weak division. He’s a two-time Grade 1 winner who fell when traveling better than subsequent Champion Hurdler Espoir D’allen a few seasons ago, and it seems plainly obvious he will strip fitter for this – I’d honestly be temped to back him if he were half the price (5/1). For that reason I think you’re getting bags of value and he’s getting a double stake.
