6f Sky Bet Lowther Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies) (Class 1) (2yo)
This is a top renewal of the Lowther with a lot of big chances. I can’t knock Liberty Beach as favourite but she is unproven over 6f and was a shade fortunate to win last time out over an easy 5f at Goodwood. PRECIOUS MOMENTS comes back in trip after disappointing when 2/1 favourite in a Group Three over 7f, and I suspect the fact Ryan Moore has ridden her on all four career starts – in races that Coolmore have had multiple runners – points to some real stable confidence. That’s backed up by Group One entries later in the season, and Aidan O’Brien’s horses look in good form this week. She’s available at 10/1 so I recommend taking it. After her taking performance on King George day at Ascot, I can’t let UNDER THE STARS go unbacked either. She swooped from last to first, beating a strong field and clocking the fastest three closing furlongs in the race, and she looks likely to be a 1,000 Guineas candidate next year. She should hold form with Living In The Past, who probably found the ground a bit soft at Ascot. I think she’s very good.
