6f Ladbrokes “Get Rewarded With Ladbucks” Firth Of Clyde (Group 3) (For Ayr Challenge Cup) (Fillies) (Class 1) (2yo)
Lots of exposed looking fillies in this race and it’s two with potential upside that I like. The first is trained by Ed Walker who has a brilliant time with his juveniles this season and owned by the Royal Family. LIGHTNING POLKA put in a very polished performance on debut in a maiden at Haydock and could plenty more to offer as a well-bred son of Night Of Thunder. He quickened away from his field and did it very easily. That form is untested but he looks like cut in the ground would be no problem to him.
The other that is extremely well-bred is CATCHING THE MOON for Richard Fahey who has won this race twice in the last five years. She did everything wrong on debut when finishing a close second to The Albany Stake second Awaken which was a very promising performance. With that experience under her belt she did things easily in an eight-runner novice when going back in trip may not have suited her. But she won well and could easily have more to offer with the form of that race working out.
1pt win Lightning Polka @5/1, Catching The Moon @10/1, 15:00 Ayr, Saturday
