1pt win Tamfana @4/1, 1pt win Barnavara @9/1, 15:50 Longchamp, Sunday

1m2f Prix de l’Opera Longines (Group 1) (3yo+ Fillies & Mares) (Grande Course) (Turf) (3yo+)

I’m not sure this race will take all that much winning, See The Fire deserves to be favourite on form but she has never looked as good on soft ground. Wemightakedlongway looks to have been saved for this and could be still improving for Joseph O’Brien with some good form behind Minnie Hauk this season.

But TAMFANA looks to have been laid out for this by David Menuisier. The Group 1 winner has only had two starts this season running a cracker in the seasonal opener before failing to giver her running on fast ground in the Lockinge. She was given the summer off in preparation for this and the ground has come right for her. Despite her peak form being over one mile, she should be fine with the ten furlongs and it feels like she could be too good for the competition here.

If she fails to fire, then BARNAVARA might just be worth siding with at the prices. She has won three from her last four starts and has been progressing all the time. Earlier this season she finished about a length behind Atsila and Cercene, both Group 1 performers now, so that form looks rock solid. She has been drawn well and Jessica Harrington has had a couple of winners at Longchamp over the years so Barnavara is worth a second look.
