6f Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes (Group 1) (Class 1) (3yo+)
KIND OF BLUE‘s profile looks very similar to last year when he claimed this race and I think he has been coming to the boil nicely with each run this season getting better and better based on the bare ratings. Last season he came here with a second in the Sprint Cup at Haydock and he comes here with exactly the same formline when not getting a great run up the rail to finish second to Big Mojo. I think the stiff 6f suits Kind Of Blue really well and James Fanshawe has most likely targeted this race again with conditions spot on for the son of Blue Point.
You could take your pick of any one of the others. But RAYEVKA arguably put in her best career performance over this course and distance in the summer. She comes here fresh as a consequence of having been shrewdly withdrawn from the Prix De L’Abbaye field after getting the widest draw where she would have had absolutely no chance of winning. Connections have done the sensible thing in sending her here instead and she has an absolute brilliant draw in stall 13 with loads of pace all around here. Arc-winning trainer Francis Grafford is the man of the moment and if Rayevka is going to win a Groip 1 then conditions should be perfect to do it on Saturday afternoon for this unexposed filly getting weight all-around.
1pt win Kind Of Blue @13/2, 1pt win Rayevka @9/1, 14:05 Ascot, Saturday
