2017 Grand National Tips (UPDATE): 0.75pts each-way Vicente @20/1, 17:15 Aintree, Saturday

Following our ante-post tips on One For Arthur and Raz De Maree, we have one more selection to complete our Grand National 2017 portfolio.

As the sun continues to beat down on Aintree, one horse who looks set to relish this weather and the going is the newly-acquired Trevor Hemmings recruit, VICENTE.

Vicente is a horse I have been following closely all season since he put in an exceptional display to win the Scottish Grand National last season as a novice.

He fits the recent profile of second-season chasers doing well in this race, and although his form book in decent quality chases makes uneasy reading this year, I fully expect him to bounce back to form over this marathon trip and with the sun on-his-back.

Paul Nicholls knows he is a spring horse, and he will have been preparing him for this race all year and as a result of his indifferent form he is now just 1lb higher than his winning mark in the Scottish National, albeit he did finish sixth in the Welsh National earlier this season demonstrating that he does seem to excel in these chases.

The Grand National always seems to throw up a story or two, and what a fitting tribute this would be to the late Many Clouds if Trevor Hemmings could saddle the winner, which he only purchased as a result of the former Grand National winner’s untimely death.
