1m4f Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby (Group 1) (3yo)

Lambourn’s Derby win felt unsatisfactory as he enjoyed the run of the race and looked like he was ideally suited by slower ground. He looks underpriced at odds-on at a much fairer track in a smaller field. I’m convinced Pride Of Arras didn’t run his race at Epsom but it was an awful run and he might have just been outclassed because the Dante form didn’t hold up at all. TENNESSEE STUD looks the obvious answer. He stays this trip really well, with a finishing speed of 111% and clocking the second fastest top speed in the Derby when staying on for third. That suggests he’s capable of better and he’s not just a boat who picked up the pieces. He was a Group One winner at two and clearly has a lot of class so I’d say he’s nailed on to place with a very live chance of reversing form with the favourite and Lazy Griff.
