2m½f (2m69y) William Hill Hurdle (Premier Handicap) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (4yo+)
WELLINGTON ARCH was supposed to be going chasing this season but has returned over hurdles, which may imply connections think he’s still got a big handicap in him. He won one of those at the Grand National meeting last April, seeing off the well handicapped Kopek De Mee. That’s good form and he went on to finish a good third at Punchestown with the now 159-rated Impose Toi only a few lengths ahead in second. He’s race fit from a respectable comeback run at Windsor and his proven stamina will be valuable on the forecast ground, despite the drop in trip. He’s warm in the market this morning and rates a good chance.
1pt each-way Wellington Arch @20/1, 15:20 Newbury, Saturday (1-5, 1/5 Bet365)
