5f HKJC World Pool Molecomb Stakes (Group 3) (Class 1) (2yo)
I am a huge Lady Iman fan, but removing the emotion it’s tough to get excited about a 6/5 shot that carries a penalty against colts here. This is also her first trip over to the UK and I wonder whether her last run might have dented her confidence slightly when getting readily outbattled by a Coolmore filly. The drop to 5f could counter that but she isn’t bombproof.
Lots of these sprinters have potential, Military Code is a solid looking animal and has some interesting form with the likes of Fitzella who won last weekend. I also like the look of Argentine Tango at a big price who has some great form against the talented Venetian Sun, but she might be drawn poorly in stall 1.
The one to me that looks far better than his form figures of 162 would suggest is DICKENSIAN, who has tonnes of speed and should be right at home at this rapid downhill track. Dickensian hosed up on debut at Musselburgh before getting tired late on at Ascot on his next start when racing keenly in a strong novice race when carrying a penalty. Dickensian ran similarly on his next start in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot when just getting done on towards the finish by the progressive Havana Hurricane. The move to a less stiff track could be the key for this son of Pinatubo here and I’ll take a shot on him being quick enough to lead from pillar to post.
1pt win Dickensian @15/2, 14:30 Goodwood, Wednesday
