2m1f Racing Post Handicap Chase (4yo+)
This is probably the most competitive race on the card. RELEASE THE BEAST has only had eight career starts and has some very interesting backform with a third behind Ballyburn in a Beginners Chase as well as some decent novice hurdles form. He proved chasing was definitely his game with a strong performance this time last year at Limerick in a novice chase. He disappointed shortly afterwards in two chase starts, but looked in decent nick on his first start of the season in a handicap when just going down late-on when he probably needed the run.
Paul Nolan was pretty excited about him earlier on in his career and whilst he hasn’t yet proven out that confidence from the yard, he may be just filling into his larger frame and could go well here as he could be well-treated with a 5lb claimer booked for last year’s winning connections.
