3m Ladbrokes Troytown Handicap Chase (Grade B)
The fact that the Troytown won’t be run on a bog will suit a few of these and none other than FARCLAS, who is a 2ptswin favourite, and a confident selection here for a horse that will absolutely love the Good ground over a Navan.
Farclas is a winner of the Triumph Hurdle in 2018 and finished second to the Shunter at The Festival back in March on decent ground over 2m 4f. That was followed by an excellent fifth in the Grand National demonstrating the depths of his stamina.
He was putting in a big run in the Kerry National (form has worked out well already) on his first start of the season before making an unusual mistake three out to unseat the rider. That should have blown away the cobwebs and the return to three miles on decent ground should be perfect for him with the help of a 5lb claimer taking weight off his back.
Lord Royal definitely has potential to improve, but may prefer softer ground which may also be the same case for Irish National runner-up Run Wild Fred.
1.5pts win Farclas @11/2, 14:50, Navan, Sunday
