2m4½f (New) Mrs Paddy Power Mares’ Chase (Registered As The Liberthine Mares’ Chase) (Grade 2) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (5yo+)
The top two in the market here in Allegorie De Vassy and Impervious have made this seem like a matchbet for many months with the two battling for favouritism at shorter than 2/1 odds. Both of them have looked like worthy recruits to the chasing field, but they are both still inexperienced and in the case of the former, has a tendency to jump quite markedely to the right.
I am therefore prepared to take an each-way punt on JEREMY’S FLAME, who is clearly more battle-hardened than his market rivals given the amount of experience she has had to date including operating in Graded company against geldings.
She picked up a Grade 3 at Naas over two miles earlier in the year against the opposite sex and then put in a career-best performance against her own sex at Huntingdon last time out battering Zambella.
Jeremy’s Flame is a strong traveller and will be suited by the pace of the race, so I find it hard to see her finishing out of the first three – particularly with a major stamina doubt over the next-priced horse in the market in Magic Daze – and she may even be able to get her head in front if it becomes a battle up-the-hill.
1pt each-way Jeremy’s Flame @7/1, 16:50 Cheltenham, Friday (1-3 places, 1/5 odds)
