1m½f Princess Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored By Oddschecker) (Group 3) (Fillies & Mares) (Class 1) (3yo+)
It’s hard to split many of these fillies and mares and plenty of them have questions to answer. Skellet might be the class act in the race, but she’s not been the most straightforward so far in her career and has to prove she stays this far when she might need the run. The like of Sirona and Royal Dress can both have decent cases made for them, the latter of the two was unlucky last year and both have top jockeys aboard.
However, I am drawn to the chance of BERMUDA LONGTAIL. Oisin Murphy and Andrew Balding combined to win the first race on the card on Friday and they may yet do the same here. This daughter of Hello Youmzain is a half-sister to a useful 1m 1f French winner and her first start on turf last time out suggested that she would relish a step up in trip. That was on fast ground, but her first three career starts were on the all-weather and her pedigree would suggest that she will handle conditions if it goes soft tomorrow.
Bermuda Longtail is very lightly-raced and is being thrown in here against experienced mares, but she improved by 10lbs on her last start and of course gets a huge three-year-old weight allowance which can see her progress again as she looks like a talented and uncomplicated filly.
1pt win Bermuda Longtail @11/2, 13:00 Epsom, Saturday
