6f Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack Stakes (Group 2) (IRE Incentive Race) (Colts & Geldings) (Class 1) (2yo)
It’s a little hard to know what to make of the two-year-old sprint form so far this season, but despite the fact he has not won any of his last three starts, I think it’s far too soon to write-off CAMILLE PISSARRO for the mighty Coolmore team.
This son of Wootton Bassett has some consistent, high quality form which was really underlined by challenging Babouche – who could potentially be the best juvenile in Europe – in a 6.5 furlong contest at The Curragh last time out. His yard have always been a big fan of Camille Pissarro and he was supproted very heeavily for the Coventry at Royal Ascot so it would be no surprise to see him put it altogeher here at York.
The other one we feel is worth keeping onside is ANDESITE who is the least unexposed runner in the field being just a maiden winner. The form of his maiden looks decent with the runner-up claiming a Listed contest recently. Trained by Karl Burke, Andesite was backed strongly at Royal Ascot only to be taken out. He has clearly had some setbacks since and whilst you’d possibly argue he is best watched today, it is quite a big signal of confidence from the Karl Burke yard that they aim his sights so highly here.
