2m4f (2m3f200y) (Mildmay) EBC Group Manifesto Novices’ Chase (Grade 1) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (5yo+)
This is really competitive. Arkle winner Jango Baie has an outstanding chance with course, distance and conditions to suit but he’s well found in the market and won’t drift much. The bet is GIDLEIGH PARK who has come in slightly under the radar after an interrupted season. He missed Cheltenham but had put a disappointing chasing debut well behind him when winning at Windsor, beating subsequent Cheltenham winner Caldwell Potter. That form has worked out great and puts him up there with the best of these, and his novice form with Lucky Place has been franked all season too. He was devastating on a galoping flat track at Newbury last year and looks the ideal type for Aintree, especially as he comes in lightly raced and ready to peak.
