1pt win Lavender's Blue @6/1, 16:10 Ascot, Tuesday

The Duke Of Cambridge is a hot looking renewal with it difficult to rule out many with confidence. Michael Stoute has two potential Shamardal-sired improvers in the shape of Jubiloso and Queen Power, with the latter marginally preferred having run a career best on her reappearance to Terebellum (second favourite for the Queen Anne). Nazeef has also been improving through the grades for John Gosden but is a little short at 10/3.

LAVENDER’S BLUE is the only pattern-level winner in Britain in this line-up, having rattled home over a mile to claim the Group 3 Atalanta Stakes at Sandown last year. She was off a long break after a forlorn attempt in the Oaks, so is proven when running fresh. Lavender’s Blue shaped better than the bare result of fourth in the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket at the end of last year, finishing behind the 2018 1000 Guineas winner Billesdon Brook, the Breeders Cup Fillies Mile winner, Iridessa and the QE II fourth, Veracious which looks solid form.

The mile is Lavender’s Blue’s trip and this daughter of Sea The Stars can progress on just her sixth start for Amanda Perrett.
