The wet weather has removed a number of runners from this Class 3 handicap and therefore remains fairly open, if not less competitive, if you take the favourite, Withernsea, priced at around 11/4-3/1 out of consideration.
Captain Bob is a decent handicapper on his day for the in-form Charlie Hills, and there are a couple of moderately-exposed horses in the favourite and Mujassam, who could go close.
We think there is better value about in Mullionheir. Previously tipped up by 2Pts Win for the Mobile Stakes at Newmarket in July, this massively improved 3yr old finished 4th to the smart Magical Memory, and that is solid form back on track after a decent break of 36 days. 1lb higher – having already risen 35lbs this season – J R Best’s colt, priced at 10/1 may still be ahead of the handicapper.
