2m½f (New) Simon Claisse Handicap Chase (GBB Race) (Class 2)
With plenty of pace and frontrunners lining up in the Simon Claisse Handicap at 13:15, there is a very strong possibility that the race will fall apart and go to a horse that likes to race off-the-pace.
NOTRE PARI is 0-5 over the larger obstacles, but was a half decent hurdler getting up to a mark in the mid-130’s and also looking like he could win the Lanzarote Hurdle when falling at the last in January 2020. He is still very lightly-raced for Olly Murphy, and came back last month in his seasonal reappearance to put in his best performance as a chaser thus far at Carlisle when just losing a bit of energy over the 2m 4f trip going down to a French import for Nicky Henderson.
Notre Pari has mainly been tried over intermediate distances, but a strongly run two miles over the New course at Cheltenham could suit him perfectly and off a mark 6lbs lower than his hurdles mark with his first attempt in a handicap, he could have an awful lot in his favour off bottom-weight.
1pt win Notre Pari @7/1, 13:15 Cheltenham, Saturday
