1m (7f213y) (Rnd) Coronation Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Fillies) (Class 1) (3yo)
The 1000 Guineas form is put to the test here and I think it’s useful form to follow. The one I like most is PORTA FORTUNA for Donnacha O’Brien. She continues to be grossly underestimated by the bookmakers and was unlucky not to win the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket. That run has to be marked up given it was her first start of the season.
Porta Fortuna loves Ascot having won the 6f Albany Stakes on quick ground last season, but she stays the mile really well and her close second in the Juvenile Fillies Turf mile at the Breeders Cup last November give plenty of encouragement that she will handle the round course just as well as she handled the straight one before.
If we are on Porta Fortuna then it’s hard not follow the horse that pipped her for the 1000 Guineas ELMALKA, her running style and strong finish should be hugely suited by the Royal Ascot test. She has also drifted to a very nice price given she holds possibly the best form on offer and at 7/1, I think both of them are worth chancing against Opera Singer who looked well below par on her reappearance with question marks hanging over whether she has trained on from 2yo to 3yo.
