Ga Law was a good winner of the Paddy Power Chase at Cheltenham a few months ago and connections may have long term aspirations to take their stable star to a Gold Cup in 2024. He was given an 8lbs rise for that success and has to lumber top weight at Doncaster on Saturday. Could is a classy type and with decent ground forecast for this contest, he might be able to do it.
But I can’t let TEA FOR FREE go unbacked at 6/1 second favourite here as he has looked hugely progressive over fences and can make it 5 wins from 5 chase starts over a track and on ground that is sure to suit. Tea For Free has gone up 33lbs for those chase successes, but with just a 7lbs rise for his last start I fancy that he is still ahead of the handicapper.
In fact Tea For Free will carry 15lbs less than his main market rival and if he can bowl along in front like he normally does than he might be very difficult to catch. It is a really competitive race, but he looks the one for me that could still have the most in hand on the handicapper with the others all fairly exposed at this stage.
