1pt win Terresita @8/1, 14:15 Ascot, Saturday

Martator failed to defy his huge rise in the weights this season at Kempton last time in a Grade 3 and may fail to do it again here despite being suited to Ascot and down in grade. Also Venetia Williams horses have started to fall slightly out of form which puts me off taking a short price on him.

Kotmask and Scarface faced each other last time out over a shorter trip and although the former got the better of him, the latter could be set to reverse the placings with a 3lbs swing in the ratings.

Flegmatik showed more promise on his last start here at Ascot and drops further in the weights. He looks well-handicapped on his older form, but isn’t getting any younger and generally prefers a flatter track. He could give the most danger to TERRESITA who has progressive chasing form which includes three wins on her last six starts. That could have been four had she not fallen at the second last when leading Martator in a handicap at Sandown in April (Kotmask miles back at the time in the same race).

On her next start which was her first of this season, Terresita really put it altogether beating a short-priced Galia Des Liteaux at Carlisle and Terresita ran another career best last time out at this track behind Gemirande who went on to win the December Gold Cup at the Cheltenham meeting. The second in the same race had been on a four-timer and so that could be really solid form.

She could be an improved mare that might yet still have some level of improvement in her and its a small positive that the handicapper dropped her 1lb here so she only has to carry 10st 6lbs. Gavin Sheehan gets on well with her and she is worth a bet at the prices in what is an open race.
