1m4f Paddy Power Stakes (Group 3) (Registered as the Kilternan Stakes)
Adelaide River is a short-priced favourite for this off the back of his two runner-up efforts in the Group 1 Irish Derby and the Grand Prix De Paris. The drop in class to Group 3 level looks like a very good opening but he hasn’t managed to get head in front in seven turf starts and might prefer more cut in the ground.
He’s opposable at 7/4 with VALIANT KING looking a interesting alternative with a 3lb allowance here. Joseph O’Brien’s son of Roaring Lion has progressed from his maiden win on good ground at Navan two starts back. He was a closing second in the King George V Stakes at Ascot behind Desert Hero on decent ground. Valiant King then followed that up with another improved performance in the Group 3 Ballyroan Stakes staying within a few lengths of Vauban.
He remains unexposed and could have the potential to improve enough to takes this.
