2m Paddy Power “Je Suis Une Baguette” Handicap Hurdle (4yo+)
WATCH HOUSE CROSS has already shown a liking for the track at Leopardstown having won a maiden hurdle over this distance on this card last year. He then ran in the Grade 1 Irish Tattersals Novice hurdle, finishing last to Sir Gerhard. He put in a better effort behind another top class Mullins sort when finishing fourth to El Fabiola at Punchestown.
Watch House Cross is a big unit of a horse so it made sense to try him over fences, but it didn’t quite click for him over the larger obstacles and he was switched back to hurdles, winning a shade cosily over 2m 4f from a decent yardstick in Vina Ardanza on soft ground at Naas.
The selection was given a 6lbs rise for that win, but remains unexposed in handicaps and should have no problem dropping back in trip as he put in a dominant front-running display last time out over 2m 4f.
He is decent odds at 8/1 to get another winner on the board for the De Bromhead / Blackmore combination.
