1pt win King Of Answers @7/1, 1pt win Montregard @9/1, 15:35 Ayr, Saturday

4m (3m7f176y) Coral Scottish Grand National Handicap Chase (Premier Handicap) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (5yo+)

KING OF ANSWERS ran best of horses that were held up in the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. That race has already had its form franked by several horses and could be a race to follow going forward. King Of Answers raced further back than ideal but proved he was versatile in different ground conditions. The way he stayed up the hill over 3m 6f suggests he should have no problem with this extra two furlongs and although he has a lot of weight to carry, he has only gone up 3lbs for that personal best which should be manageable for the home team.

Another who could improve massively for this step up in distance is MONTREGARD. Owned by the English National winning connections in JP McManus, Montregard has made some eye-catching progress this season for Tom Lacey. Admittedly those runs have primarily taken place on right-handed tracks and at Ascot, but such was the nature of those runs that I think it would be wrong to dismiss his chances. Unlike a number of these, he could still be firmly on the right side of the handicapper with a mark of 132 and is worthwhile having a go at over this longer trip.
