1m2f (1m1f209y) bet365 Classic Trial (Group 3) (Class 1) (3yo)

Charlie Appleby saddles odds-on favourite Arabian Crown here and he has an obvious chance on 2yo form. He’s so short there are plenty of alternatives at big prices. I’d like to see the Beckett yard in better form so Macduff is hard to fancy first time up. I’m going to back UNDER THE SUN who arrives here with a prep run in his legs – where he missed the break and came fourth – and boasts an excellent second to Al Musmak at Ascot as a 2yo as well as a 5l second on debut to Arabian Crown. One place ahead of him at Chelmsford was Capulet who is rated 109 and also ties closely with Al Musmak and some of the best Irish 2yos, so there’s loads of substance to his form. As a son of Golden Horn out of a Montjeu mare, staying will be his game and this represents a significant step up in trip that could see him close the gap on the favourite. I was tempted to back a couple but a small stakes each-way bet makes most sense given he trades 40/1.
