Paul Nicholls’s DIEGO DU CHARMIL looks a solid bet at 7/1 in the William Hill Handicap Hurdle after an impressive winning reappearance at Chepstow.

He won the Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival off a mark of 133 on his British début, and aged four is still very much on the upgrade.

Favourable good ground and assured match fitness can exaggerate his current mark of 141, so he should be there or thereabouts at the finish.

Ch’tibello is the clear threat and clearly goes well fresh after defying a lengthy break to land the Scottish Champion Hurdle last season.

He was unlucky next time out when third at Haydock, and is possibly a good deal better than his current mark of 144.

At 11/4 he’s pretty short, though, and Paul Nicholls’s French import looks the value in a race that might be a touch too classy for those at the bottom of the weights.
