I’m backing Joseph O’Brien’s and INTRICATELY to land the Irish 1000 Guineas today at Curragh.

He’s a Group One winner at the track and the form of that Moyglare Stud Stakes win gives him a big shout in this, particularly as the rain has come.

He’s by Fastnet Rock, whose progeny appreciate slower going and generally stay well, and he only finished a length behind the subsequent English 1000 Guineas winner Winter when giving that filly 3lb at Leopardstown last month.

Winter is the odds-on favourite for this, and also involved in that bunched finish at Leopardstown was second-favourite Rehana, who was also receiving weight to suggest a reversal of form is likely.

More likely than the massive 16/1 price suggests, anyway.

The big price is down to defeats at the Breeders’ Cup and English Guineas, but both were on fast ground and there’s every chance that was decisive.
